6 The Lovers
As I look at the card I am struck by its simplicity compared with the other cards I have explored so far, I feel perhaps that this is the simplicity that if you have love then little else is needed. There is a man and woman dancing holding red and purple ribbons from the maypole and there is a green ribbon left floating free. I feel the two are happy together independent yet sharing of the same pole, accepting each others differences. I feel it is the Lord and Lady coming together, whereas the previous cards are individually looking at people, this card seems to be the first about relationship.

I walk into the card and ask the maypole what it is about. " I am the threads of the web of Wryd when I hold all things together weaved in interconnectedness throughout time and space – I am the synchronicities that bring people together at the right time and shows each a mirror of themselves as they relate. Here I am the connection between these too loves and the potential that can come from their relationship is the third thread – not yet taken up but available for use. Either a child coming from them or a symbol of the creations they can make in their and others lives, the enrichment that can come from relating together separately and openly yet joined."
" Thank you" I say and step further into the card I see the lords and ladies (plant) at the side and ask them if they have something to say. "I am representative of the joining of man and woman within to become a unified and honourable whole – I am both lord and lady as this card is, The Lord and Lady in their archetypes joined as one unified whole. I am the inner and outer balances together. I am both phallic and vaginal in my image and thus show the fitting together of differences that makes new things be created."
"Fertility and the creative principle is shown here in our standing, that which is created through acceptance of difference."
"Thank you. That is interesting indeed" I say. The flower nods at me, I have always liked this plant finding it to look so odd, and be so proud. I am pleased to have a feel for its message here.
I walk further into the card and talk to the couple. We are here to show there are two sides to every story and they might be very different yet each side when put with the other shows the whole – None of us can know the whole picture on our own we have to communicate and connect with others to gain real understanding. It is why so often we are driven by our relationships for they are the learning tools of the universe and take us on to higher and higher levels of integration and acceptance of everything. The man on the card says this, I then turn to the woman, "I agree with his comments and tell you too there is always another way of looking at something, feelings are important to be heard on both sides of anything, as they hold the keys to the inner workings of a situation. If both are prepared to look within to gain the knowledge then the growth will be multifold. Yes each individual have the other residing within – perhaps asleep, wake him up and let him speak, for he will hold the keys to your inner unity."
"What do you represent in a reading then?" I ask "We show the way to resolution for a relationship that is wobbly, we also show an opportunity to grow through knowing another closely, – often a romantic relationship as the relationships with the strongest pulls are the ones containing the most possible growth. We also represent a situation where differences may need to be lived with and a way to allow separate expression in the other world is needed for 2 opposing forces. This allowance can lead to great strength and complimentary energies creating more than could ever have been imagined separately or whilst fighting. We are the way to end the fighting as way to harmony through love."
"And if you are reversed?" We show that the conflict is being maintained, the differences are being held against one another and the working together seems not to be possible – yet within this situation the answers are there – solution is possible though not through direct change but through acceptance and respect. Underlying there is a root of love (the tree in the background there is solid and rooted over time.) These roots will carry you through if you choose to allow yourself to see both sides as within you you can then learn acceptance of the other as well as a deeper acceptance of yourself. So reversed we talk of conflicts and blockages and sometimes of a feeling of 'too much' closeness where the true path is blocked while each partner tries to please to such an extent that they are not honouring they own path in life – we wake up the person to trust and feel the love that is really there even if the actions are more separate and less enmeshed with each other. Reversed we also mean that you are not connected up to the synchronistic flow and you are not seeing or allowing the messages the universe sends you to show you the way. Open your eyes know you are connected to all things and that this connectedness does not need to be scary. "
"So also.. " I Say " You are about when not reversed, things being very synchronistic and that all people things and events can give a message to show the way forward. Listen to these connections with others in the general sense"
"Yes indeed you are working well with us for your relationship to us is as important as ours to each other, as a mirror of all relationships being gifts, if you know where to look."
"Thank you both so much," I say I felt that each would start to say something then the other would expand or continue they seemed to flow in their talk seamlessly. It was lovely to talk with them.
I am drawn to the tree in the background.. " I am the symbol of all of life and how it takes putting down roots, time, food, water and sun to grow and each of these things have happened here so I am strong and able to weather storms I am flexible and so do not break whilst the wind blows, yet I stay rooted in myself and am true to my own growth. Relationships are like this and need all these things to grow, sometime we grow one way and then other the next in our various relationships but overall if we learn at every opportunity we are balanced and work out imperfections as we go. Each growth phase needing a reassessment of where balance is needed next so we maintain our stability. This is all I have to say at this time"
"Thank you tree" I Say " – I love your strength and knowing and your ability to flow, I know I fear being broken sometimes so wish to hold strong and in doing so sometime create the broken branch – where I needed to let go of the fear of being taken over and be more flexible to the prevailing forces. Thank you for your lesson – just standing there being you!"
I thank the whole card and then leave.
As I come out of the card I realise there is little – personally directed information though it is all relevant to me at the moment and I realise that this is a card of groups where the group is being spoken to rather than the individual and it is the things that happen when a group get together and share experiences rather than the more individual 'session' that this card is talking about, hence general information rather than specific.

Readings can be done by distance onto a CD or MP3 and sent to you in the post, so there's no need to be living in my area, or need to find a time we can both be present. I offer readings Face to Face, On Skype video phone, and usual telephone, as well as distance readings without you needing to be present or available when I do the reading for your focus directly onto CD or MP3.
