17 The Star
I look at the card and I see there is rowen with berries round the edge, I associate these with protection and magical work, they are abundant in their berries, so I feel it is the time of reaping the rewards of hard work and of your vision for the future, that which has been dreamt of is coming to fruition. As I look at the main card I see the stone circle in the middle with the star above. It reminds me of a stone circle near where I live which is high up in similar landscape, a very powerful wild place.

I walk into the card....
I stand before the rowen and am handed a glass of red drink, “Drink of our juices for your dreams to come true, the success you desire is possible, for you keep believing in your dream and your highest ideal and it will come to you as you wish. ” I am reminded of the many rowen I have seen this year, they are so abundant with berries that the trees seem very weighted down but also very alive and bright as the colour is so vibrant. “Hard work is coming, but it is one of great pleasure and will enliven your spirit even though it is work to carry this abundance. Know the time to hold on and allow development and the time to let go, allowing the seeds to take root in others, that they go ahead and grow themselves from the seeds you have nurtured and grown in them.”
“Thank you great rowen, your message is very applicable to me - I feel you are helping me work my magic.”
I look towards the purple flowers on the other boarder of the card. Though I recognise them I do not know their name. I say hello, they say hello back in a sweet gentle voice. I ask for their teachings... “We grow amongst others, we twist and wind our way around and allow our gentle beauty to be seen. Our lesson is of humility yet vision. We are visible and can allow ourselves to be supported by another, yet we do not take more than we need wherever we go, we only take what is necessary – we are seen yet do not overshadow. Do not fear recognition for what you do, for your humility will stay with you – you can roam wherever you wish, allowing yourself to take support as you need it and allowing your light and beauty to be seen. – Do not fear you will overshadow others, for our gift to you is of gentleness, know that sweeping statements are not needed, just allow yourself to be visible and those who you can serve will see you, be drawn to you and will come your way. See us as a way of being to help you balance your ideas of success and humility. This is our gift. ”

I walk into the card and my heart center received a huge buzz as I walk towards the stone circle in the center and as I look up to the star above.
I feel the star affects my 3rd eye and the circle the heart. The fire in the center – 'burning with my hearts desire' is a phrase that comes to me, that the circle represents the harnessing of the energy of my hearts desire and that the star is the alignment with the spiritual realms to make the dream a physical reality. It feels like the energy of all the wild land around is harnessed and centered here by this circle and that this natural energy will help manifest whatever is asked for, if in alignment with the highest will. I find it hard to walk forward and talk to any part of this scene as the energy and power seems overwhelming and also so interconnected. I stand and watch and experience the energy.
I feel I am being given the energy I need to do the work I am here to do and that the running I do recreationally is also helping me to be able to contain this energy and be a stronger physical body to handle its transmission. I feel a great linking between my recreational time, my working time and my spiritual service – a wonderful feeling of oneness and rightness.
I ask “May I approach?”, as the spinning light that has been travelling round the circle diminishes as if its work is done, for now. “Yes you may – come forward my child” – I walk towards the circle and as I cross the circle line I suddenly perceive each rock of the circle as a person, an old man is one, a being of light almost human another, another elder, a Native American, and another an elder woman from Aboriginal culture, as I look round the circle. It is like the circle has become a circle of guides, helpers from this time and from others, from this place and from others. They all have a very wise knowing look about them and gentle eyes and there is a great feeling of gentle love and acceptance from them all. I sense I kind of pleasure that I have arrived – like they have been waiting for me to get to this point to unveil themselves and allow themselves to be more known by me.
I am drawn to the fire in the center and there is a tall being of light standing by – I recognise his nature as that of my doorkeeper, he smiles and takes a rod from the fire with flame attached and holds it to my heart – plunging it in – I know not to be fearful for I have trust in him and it indeed does not hurt, I feel a release from fear, like the fire is burning up my fears and the old things that have held me back in my working and personal life. I get a sense that this is a cleansing ritual and that I am being prepared for the work I am about to do. I bow down low as he removes the rod in thanks and acknowledgement of the honour they have bestowed upon me, I do feel rather little, and somewhat helpless here but also filled with a kind of innocent trust. I feel very grateful for their helping me in this way.
The I am drawn to look up at the star – it is high above shinning its light upon us all, as I look up I feel it send a beam into the top of my head cleansing and opening my crown chakra, like I have been cleansed emotionally with fire and now my spirit is being cleansed with high light of the star. I look back towards the fire and allow the feelings to become known to me.
I stand back a little then ask up at the star and to those surrounding me.... “ Thank you for your help, healing and love. But what of this card as a card .... what of this experience is the card?”
I hear from the star... “I am the highest ideal that one can achieve, I am the life's work of a person, something they have been born to do – for many do not know what their work is to be – meditation upon this card and journeying within we will always help those who seek to find their true path. Sometimes the journey is just a set of directions, 'Just turn left now, then we will tell you the rest later if you feel stuck.' Sometimes we talk of the destination and allow the path to be found, sometimes we perform the initiation rite that allows the person to move into their new pathway as we have for you here today. I am the hope in someone's soul, the knowing that there is more to their life. I am the feeling of oneness with the world and the feeling of being in the flow. As you ask the others of this card you will see how we all work together and in this way you see this card as showing how when each walks their true path each is fully connected with each other and at the same time is independent, for our souls reflect the oneness underlying all things, we are never alone, and we do not need to cling to one another for the all is ever present.”
I thank the star and look at the figures on the circle and ask of them their message in the card. “We are the spiritual family of the one who seeks – to seek us to know us this is the message of the card. Your spiritual family is near both in physical form and in spiritual realms. Trust us and we can help you transform your world to one closer to your highest ideal. We can only help when you choose to enter the circle... it is your choice to come close or to remain where you are... we can not help by spiritual law unless your soul permission has been given. ”
I then look into the fire. “I am the fire of transformation and I will burn all that is old allowing for new growth, as the heather needs to be burnt by the heat of fire for its true strength to be found so too I am the heat by which you will find your strength, and courage to follow your passion. Call me into your life when you want to move things on in your life. ”
“Thank you all ...” I feel the message for me here has been strong and somewhat humbling, I do also hope there is a message for those who read this. I feel this card is very positive and about hope and making dreams come true – there is a lot about responsibility but also about knowing that spiritual help is extremely powerful. I realise I don't ask for help as much as I could, sometimes continuing on feeling it has to be me who sorts it all out, forgetting the links that are between everything and that I can allow other people and energies to carry stuff forward on my behalf.
I feel as I write this, that this is the reversed meaning for this card, where the spiritual connection of all things has been forgotten and independence is taking over unnecessarily. That there is help for us all if only we can ask for it and be open to receive it in the form it comes. Loosing hope and losing trust in the spiritual side of our lives could also be a reversed indicator here... and a message to remember to ask in order to change the experience of this card from its block to its high spiritual fulfilment.
I step out of the circle and take a look at this place from a distance again and I see the darkness falling as if it is over for now, the fire fades and night time falls, it seems that after creation rest is necessary even in spiritual terms and that to accept this cycle is a natural part of creating.
I hold my arms out and call out, “Thank you to you all for your wisdom, healing and kindness. I shall leave now and return at a future time.... thank you”
I turn and leave the card – feeling very positive, loving and strong.
