3 of Wands – Foundation
This month I am continuing journeying into the minor arcana cards of the Sacred Circle Deck (available from my book store ), this month it is the Three of Wands – and we start to look at the threes. Often seen as the creation that comes from the two. A simple analogy would be how two parents make a third child – something resulting from the union of two yet a new independant creation.

I walk into the card...
I small the smell of a hot sunny day in a corn field first – I can almost feel the dryness of fragments of the corn in the air I breathe. It feels hot and dry...The structure with the strawberries seems to demand my attention first before I can go any further...
he strawberries say to me –
“We are in an unusual position – creeping up these poles like this – but we love being able to show ourselves at our best – having the space for every bit of us to be seen rather than crawling around in the foliage as is usual for is. We like being in the sun – we ripen and can become sweet much more effectively. We are grateful for the support we are receiving – it helps us reach our maximum potential – so we say to you remember to take support from others to allow someone else to hold you up is not a sign of weakness, more a synthesis where you can really reach for the stars if you allow yourself to be held up. You will be perfect whether crawling in the undergrowth in comfort and relative camouflage or whether supported for all to see – however when you are allowing yourself to be visible, you can offer so much more to people. You can be accessed and you can share the best of yourself with more people than if you just hide yourself in your comfortable home. Be brave – allow others to support you in ways that will help you be seen and your harvest will be one of plenty. ”
“We are saying do not fear being respected, complimented and talked of by others who have benefited from your work. As you accept their words humbly within yourself yet not hide from the visibility you can be more true to your soul's purpose. ”
I ask the wands what they might have to share with us here.
“We are the supports, as you see, upright and clear we hold up what is of value. We help you be supported as you grow – we do not expect you to be fully grown when we first help – but as you allow yourself to appreciate the offered opportunities then you can grow stronger and stronger, and be seen in all your phases of development as you move forward. Both the flowering beauty and the tasty fruits of your growth, the new shoots and buds, as you venture upwards and into new areas, and the leaves that take in the nourishment you need personally to do this work. All parts of the whole can be seen – save the roots – your history does not need to be openly known – it too is supporting you, but the focus does not need to be on the past any longer – the focus is on the present and recent past in how you have come to do what you are doing. We are really the structure of your past studies and experience, we are the people around you who help and support you in your current work and abilities. We say to you, with our close friends the strawberry plant, be true to who you are – you are not alone and every bit of who you are is important. Though you may be different from those around you hold to your true nature and you encourage others to hold to theirs. We are a card of truth, openness and honesty as well as acceptance and high integrity – with a transparency of action and being, you create trust in all those around you, thus a blossoming and good harvest can be attained.”
I am drawn, at the sound of the word 'harvest', to the corn field behind. I thank the wands and the strawberries and walk behind this structure to the corn field... “Do you have further message for me here?” I ask
“Yes we are the harvest as you rightly understood just then. We represent success and the time being right to bring in the harvest – it is warm and sunny and dry – the rains are over (the corn ears wave over towards the rainbow in the background...) We are saying, now is the time – take action – move forward – putting a lot of effort in now to harvest – all the hard work you have been putting in up to this point will pay off. We are the result of both a strong determined nurturing of an idea, as well as the patience to allow the growth and natural synchronicities to occur as they were needed. Now it the time to reap your rewards. You may need to call upon others at this time to help you in this harvest... do not fear this... none is alone we all are connected to each other and when the time is right people flow together each gaining from helping another in the way they need. Trust in yourself and in the natural order of things. ”
“Thank you corn – you explain it to me well. ” I say
I walk through the corn to the old tree in the distance and feel as I walk the corn is being cut and gathered and it is happy to be of service to us humans for our food and nourishment. I feel a great joy of success and reaching a goal in this cycle. The tree seems to smile to great me as I walk over.
“Welcome my friend. I am longevity, time and the permanence that lies within all things even though the cycles of change occur each season change. I am the grounding the strength the eternal that runs through all. I see this field grow each spring and be harvested each autumn – the change of crops the constancy of the cycle and how everything happens at the right time. My message for this card is be true to yourself and know when it is the time to be patient and when it is time to act – I tend to herald action in this card but sometimes it is only one stage of the action – not an ultimate action – Know what is cut down will grow again, what is harvested now can be re–seeded for the future also – and the time to do this planting will come – do not fear that in the harvest you will lose the support, or the ability to create... As the strawberries show – you need to harvest frequently at this time or your fruits will return to the land and you will have lost what you set out to create – this is the nature of being in touch with the auspicious time to act and the time to wait. ”
“Thank you tree.” I give the tree a hug and I feel its support like its strength runs through me and any fears I might have of there not being enough in the future are taken from me... I know all is well and all changes are towards the next harvest. I feel tension and stress release and know as I trust my inner knowing I will be in tune with when I need to act. I am reminded personally of my training program and the balance between hard training and good rest... harvesting the fruits of my training at the right time – sometimes all at once, as the corn has demonstrated, other times little at a time, over a period, as the strawberries show – I understand what I am being directed to do here.
I walk over to the area of the rainbow... I look up and find myself sitting upon it – and then slowly sliding down to the ground, changing the colour I slide on from one minute to the next – it feels gentle and supportive. Soft and yet powerful.
“I am the sign that the rains are over – here I represent the knowing that the rain is away and harvest can begin. Also though as you sit amongst my colours know that each of these rays has a mission, an energy, to bring to the world, that we can show ourselves in true light after the rain – the emotions – has been shed. I say to you this card comes after much inner work on the emotional level – now true virtue can be expressed as the unconscious has been explored and mapped, many places have been healed – all have been visited. Now you know the inner world then the outer world becomes a clear place to be – what you want to create comes forth for you. You no longer stand in your own way or sabotage your own efforts. You recognise who you really are and what your skills and talents are. Using these and not trying to be something you are not – you love yourself as you are. With this you are able to join with others in synergistic connections and bring into being beauty, as indeed the rains bring me in to existence, with the self love of the sun. You are now in this place – your self love is strong enough to shine its light on your emotional body and understand. Seeing its beauty and its message for you in your life at that moment.. Trust – you are free and strong at this time. ”
“Thank you rainbow – that is a very useful understanding of this card. ”
“What if you are reversed?” I ask the card as a whole
“You are hiding your own light.” – the strawberries say –
“You have a chance to be seen – allow it to be. Trust the opportunities that are coming your way. I am here for you.” – say the poles,
“Trust in a higher support coming to you through a physical person or situation – it is like reversed you are ignoring the possibilities out of fear of not being good enough, and the fear of being too self serving. Holding your light back for the fear it will be too powerful even. If reversed we say – the time is now – come on! do it! do it! do it...!” I hear the corn say. It is like they rustle in a wind trying to shout that they need to be harvested.
I get the sense of someone being so scared to let go of a comfort, that is what they know, for fear that the new way or action will actually cause more problems... It is like the person doesn't trust themselves to be shown in a good light if they are seen.
“Allow yourself to be transformed!” the rainbow shouts “ – Its over – all the difficulties. You have done enough self work – now you need to stop and look at how you can accept yourself as you are – you have changed even if you are scared of believing so...”
I get a sense of this card reversed is someone being stuck in an old identity which no longer serves them or is them. It is like they are not recognising the inner work that they have done.
I see the poles offer themselves to a part of the strawberry plant that is not creeping upwards – and as they do it is a message – someone or something is there to support your first steps into the limelight – allow them to help you reach upwards and appreciate all you have achieved.
“Thank you all so much.” I say – I feel you have given me a powerful message here and much of it I will take into myself and use to help me move forward at this time.
I take a few deep breaths of that hot sunny dry air and feel filled with joy and warmth and I turn and leave the card.

The readings I offer on the phone, internet, in person or by post are detailed and last between 1/2 hour to an hour, also I record them onto CD or MP3 so you can listen to them time and time again – often people find that the things I have said take on new meanings as time passes and that the information that comes through really helps as situations unfold.
Information is gained both from the tarot cards as well as psychically the two forms of guidance merging together to give insight to any situation you are concerned about, or you general future.
Readings can be done by distance onto a CD or MP3 and sent to you in the post, so there's no need to be living in my area, or need to find a time we can both be present. I offer readings Face to Face, On Skype video phone, and usual telephone, as well as distance readings without you needing to be present or available when I do the reading for your focus directly onto CD or MP3. I now offer ongoing development sessions where we use guided meditations, readings and counselling techniques of various kinds to help you develop yourself from both a spiritual and psychological point of view. Personal relationship awareness and self development
By request, I am currently developing a course focusing on psychological self development and awareness of relationship patterns of behaviour we get into time and time again, to be run later on in the year. It will be heavily based on the theories of Transactional Analysis, which is a theory that explores the games we play with each other and the internal sub-personalities of Parent, Adult and Child, with a view to becoming more authentic in our lives. The course will be held online via a forum as my other courses are. It is not connected with tarot reading specifically, however it will be useful in dealing with clients, whether tarot, healing or other supportive professional roles - particularly where you may find challenges of communication. Initial Thoth Course We are currently taking bookings for the Initial Thoth course starting on January 2012. It covers the psychological and intuitional approaches to reading with the Thoth.
